Nicholas Verderamo Sits Atop the Counts as Day 2 Kicks Off in the $2,200 Main Event

Day 2 of the $2,200 Main Event at the 2024 Maryland State Poker Championship is set to resume at 12:15 p.m. local time at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland. The two Day 1 starting flights saw a total 245 entries, 31 of which will be returning for Day 2. The remaining players will be battling it out for a piece of the $500,000 prize pool, with the first place prize of $110,578 going to the winner.

Day 1a attracted 100 runners, with 13 advancing to Day 2. Michael Bills finished the flight as the player on top with 844,000.

Day 1b saw even more action, with 145 competitors showing up, but only 19 making it through. Nicholas Verderamo bagged the overwhelming chip lead with 910,000.

David Olshan was the only player to bag both flights, with his bigger stack carrying over from Day 1b. His smaller stack from Day 1a will receive a min cash.

The winner of the Main Event, in addition to their cash prize, will win a PokerStars Gold Pass. The Gold Pass is valued at $10,000 and includes a $5,300 NAPT Las Vegas Main Event buy-in, a seven-night stay at Resorts World Las Vegas, and $1,800 for travel expenses.

Action will begin on Day 2 with six minutes left on Level 16 with blinds at 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. Blinds will be 60-minutes in length with a 15-minute break taking place after every two levels.

The tournament will play down to the final six players, with the remaining competitors returning for the third and final day on Monday, August 12, where a winner will be crowned.
