Lone Star Poker Series Day 1
Day: 1

James Duke Happy to Be Back on the Live Felt

At the break, James Duke talked to PokerNews for a couple of moments and discussed the Lone Star Poker Series.

"It is just nice to be playing live poker again. I am not as much of an online guy".

As he discussed his excitement at qualifying for the WSOP Global Casino Championship in Cherokee for 2020 and his disappointment at it be forced to move online thanks to the Covid, which wreaked havoc on the poker schedule worldwide in 2020.

"I still went out there (to Las Vegas to play online) to give it a try but not the same".

Duke has taken advantage of live poker in Houston recently, collecting two daily deepstack wins in late March in this same venue as he hopes to continue his success in the PSPS over the coming weeks.

Winners Hardware on Display

One of the cool features of the Lone Star Poker Series is the hardware that the winners will take home to commemorate their victory.

The $400 buy-in, $150K GTD Spring Series Kick Off, the $600 buy-in Event #11: $30K GTD PLO Championship, and the $600 buy-in Event #18: $25K GTD Spring Series Saver will all present the winner with a copper plate.

The winner of the $1,300 buy-in Inaugural Texas State $1 Million Guaranteed Main Event will receive a shiny silver one. While there are also plaques for the final table participants.

Each prize is chiseled with the words that commemorate the date and the accomplishment to create a nice cherry on top of the cash prize they will be taking home.

The players are taking their first break of the day where the amount of entries has ballooned to 32.
