Allen Plays the Hero
Denis Brosnahan raised to 700 from under the gun and Dermot Allen called from the next seat over. Liam McVeigh then put in a three-bet to 2,400 as next to act, and the action folded back to Brosnahan.
He put in calling chips, and Allen came along as well to see a flop of J?5?K?, which got checked around. The action checked to McVeigh once more on the 4? turn, but this time he fired a bet of 3,200. Brosnahan quickly got out of the way, but Allen stuck around with a call.
The J? river completed the board and Allen checked for a third time. McVeigh put 5,500 more into the middle, which put Allen into the tank. Eventually, he came up with a call.
McVeigh sighed as he tabled his A?3? for nothing but missed draws, after which Allen showed down 10?10?. His pocket pair was good enough to rake in the pot, which he did while receiving some compliments from the other players.
