Hoppe Doubles Through McCormick to Take the Chip Lead
Laura Hoppe raised to 60,000 from the hijack, and Austin McCormick three-bet to 160,000 on the button. Hoppe called after a minute in the tank.
The flop was checked by Hoppe, and McCormick bet 170,000. Hoppe called.
Hoppe checked again on the turn, and McCormick fired another barrel, this time for 340,000. Hoppe called again.
The hit the river, and Hoppe checked a third time. McCormick jammed, putting Hoppe to the test for her last 995,000. Hoppe tanked for a few minutes.
"Go big or go home, eh?" Hoppe said to McCormick. She called, and McCormick tabled for a triple-barrel bluff. Hoppe slammed down for top pair, top kicker, and Hoppe, the start of the day short stack, now holds the chip lead with eight players left.
"That was a bad ass call, eh boys?" Hoppe added after the hand.
