"Maybe I'm Saving Money"
"Floor!" said the dealer, calling tournament director Patrick Roy over to the table to let him know the situation.
Andrew Peragallo had opened to 2,500 from under the gun and the dealer did not announce the raise. Action then folded around to Syd Masters, who was on the cutoff, and had raised to 4,000 without seeing Peragallo's open.
It appeared as though Masters, having not seen Peragallo's open, wished to reraise larger. However, the raise to 4,000 was exactly the amount required for a minimum raise and thus the ruling was that the 4,000 would stay. Action folded back to Peragallo, who four-bet to 20,000.
"Maybe I'm saving money here!" said Masters, thinking about his situation. He then reaffirmed the situation to himself, sending his cards to the muck with a laugh. Despite the lost pot, Masters has chipped up to over 150K and is one of the largest stacks in the room as the tournament enters the dinner break.
