Hastings Scores Massive Double Up Through Carrocio
Brian Hastings started it off with a raise to 6,500 and the chip leader in the tournament, Ron Carrocio, made it 17,000 to go. It was folded back to Hastings who put in a four bet to 46,500. Carrocio was having none of it and five-bet to 92,000. Hastings also wasn't going anywhere and moved all in.
"I have to," said Carrocio, adding "I call."
Hastings had picked up aces at the perfect time - when the big stack had a hand - as Carrocio had queens.
The flop was a safe one for Hastings, but there's always a sweat and such was the case when the dealer put out the on the turn to give Carrocio an open-ended straight draw. The river was a beautiful and safe card for Hastings... the ... and Carrocio could only mutter "nice hand" to Hastings. That pot catapulted Hastings past Carrocio in the chip counts as he moved to 440,000 in chips. Carrocio is still sitting with a very healthy stack of 425,000.
