H-93: $25,500 Super High Roller
Day 1 Completed
The 2021 GG Spring Festival has crowned another high-stakes champion and to no surprise, another top pro has claimed the title.
In the end it was Stephen Chidwick who stood atop the 96 entry field in H-93: $25,500 Super High Roller and claimed the biggest slice of the $2,400,000 prize pool after a three-way chop. Nick Petrangelo, Daniel Dvoress and Chidwick all agreed upon a deal during three-handed action, which saw Chidwick take home $442,339.
Heading into the nine-handed final table, Petrangelo was atop the counts with almost double the chips stack of both Dvoress and Chidwick, who sat third/fourth. However, when all was done after nine and a half hours total duration, it was the Chidwick who came out on top.
Place | Winner | Country | Payout (in USD) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Stephen Chidwick | Canada | $442,339* |
2 | Daniel Dvoress | Canada | $435,832* |
3 | Nick Petrangelo | Canada | $433,578* |
4 | Mikita Badziakouski | Belarus | $254,135 |
5 | Stephen O'Dwyer | Ireland | $195,918 |
6 | Sami Kelopuro | Finland | $151,037 |
7 | Sam Greenwood | Canada | $116,438 |
8 | Samuel Vousden | Finland | $98,644 |
9 | Andras Nemeth | Hungary | $69,201 |
The tournament started with 18 registered players, though that number more than tripled in the first three levels of play and gathered enough entries in Level 17 to surpass its guarantee. A generated prize pool of $2,400,000 would be awarded to the top 13 with 38 players remaining.
After registration closed, the virtual bodies dropped quickly and a few short levels later, Sami Kelopuro eliminated "LevMeAlone" on the bubble, leaving the remaining players in the money.
Timothy Adams (13th place - $47,852), Michael Watson (12th place - $47,852), Pavlo Kolinkovskyi (11th place - $50,526), and "RRomashka" (10th place - $52,349) all got a piece of the prize pool but fell short of a final table birth.
Petrangelo held the top stack at the start of the final table but Mikita Badziakouski made quite the impact scoring the first two eliminations at the final table to jump atop the counts.
The very same level saw Sam Greenwood depart in seventh place after his ace-rag fell short against Stephen O'Dwyer's pocket fours. Play continued with chips shuffling across the table and at one point saw sixth place finisher Sami Kelopuro, sit atop the chip counts until he ran dry from a couple unlucky hands.
From there, O'Dwyer bowed out in fifth place after Dvoress rivered a straight while Chidwick ousted Badziakouski in fourth place after making a flush on the river and action was left three-handed. Right after the elimination the final three players went on a quick five-minute break and upon return a deal was reached with Chidwick taking the first place title.
