Smith Bets the River

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Joel Smith
Joel Smith

Tag Team Championship fourth place finisher Joel Smith raised to 3,000 from early position and Russ Neil called from late position before Ed Leonardo came along from the small blind.

The flop was {k-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and all three players checked to see {q-Clubs} on the turn.

Leonardo checked the turn and then Smith bet 5,000. Both players called and the river was {3-Hearts}.

Leonardo checked again on the river and Smith made it 6,500. With not much thought at all, it was two much for both of his opponents and they tossed their hands in the muck to give him the pot.
