After 15 levels of play and a few minutes into Level 16, 45 players have made it through to Day 2 of the €1,100 Eureka Main Event here at the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague which takes place in the beautifully decorated Hilton Prague. Day 1a attracted a total of 304 players to the first of four starting flights with Mircea Flutur grabbing the chip lead with a total of 772,000.

Flutur used his aggressive style to continuously build his stack including nearing the end of the night when he check-raised a multi-way flop and blasted all in to put Berthold Winz to the test.

Day 1b also got underway, reaching a total of 122 entries. Two more flights are on the schedule as Day 1c begins at 12:00 p.m. and Day 1d starts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7th.

Numerous notables have already found a bag to enter Day 2, including Conor Beresford (257,000), Daniel Budin (254,000), along with PokerStars Ambassadors Talbot Parker (194,000) and Alejandro Lococo (155,000).

A host of poker's top names turned out for Day 1a, but were unable to make it into the final 15% of the field. The likes of
Jason Wheeler, Benjamin Spragg, Marle Spragg, Felix Schneiders, Joao Sydenstricker and Daisuke Ogita all fell short of navigating the first hurdle.

Following Flutur at the end of the night was Christian Ly, bagging second in chips with 571,000. Ly continuously grew his stack throughout the day, including when his pocket queens sent Miguel Fluxa to the rail.

The bubble burst quickly, as two players were eliminated at the same time, advancing the remaining players to Day 2 without the hand-for-hand period. The 45 Day 1a advancers have all locked up the min-cash which will be determined when the rest of the Day 1s play out.

Stay tuned as the PokerNews live reporting team is on-site and will be back tomorrow for continued coverage of the €1,100 Eureka Main Event.

Joonas Helin

Petr Novotny opened 7,500 in the hijack and Joonas Helin defended from the big blind.

The dealer fanned a flop of 7?4?2?, and Helin check-called a bet of 5,500.

When the 10? fell on the turn, Helin checked to Novotny who continued for a bet of 7,500. Helin put in a check-raise to 24,000, which Novotny called.

The A? completed the board on the river, and Helin didn't slow down, announcing all-in for roughly 52,000. Novotny instantly pitched his cards into the muck and the dealer pushed the pot to Helin.

Almost 400,000 Chips for Lococo

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Alejandro Lococo
Alejandro Lococo

On Table 8, Alejandro Lococo had a normal stack and Ville Keranen to his left had a big one a few levels ago. But the situation changed and Lococo has the big one now.

Just before the break, both players found themselves in a blind versus blind situation, with Lococo limping from the small blind.

After Keranen checked his option, Lococo bet 2,500 on the 7?5?J? flop. Then he fired a second barrel of 8,500 on the turn A?. Both times, Keranen called.

But when Lococo bet 30,000 on the river Q?, Keranen gave up and folded. Thanks to this pot, Lococo reached 400,000 chips.

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Parker Talbot
Parker Talbot

PokerStars Ambassador Parker "tonkaaap" Talbot joined Day 1a of the Eureka Main Event at the last possible moment and thus sat in the big blind with a fresh stack of 30,000 chips.

After Maksim Petrov raised from under the gun, Talbot pushed all in and received a call from the initial raiser.

Parker Talbot: 3?3?
Maksim Petrov: 8?8?

It was looking like Talbot's adventure would last only a few minutes when the board ran out K?10?2?Q?, but the miraculous 3? river saw him hit a set to win the pot and rake in a double-up.

Nasty Turn Sends Wheeler Rolling

Level 10 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Daniel Koloszar opened 2,500 under the gun, and Jason Wheeler three-bet 6,500 next to act. The action folded back around to Koloszar and he tossed in a call.

The dealer fanned a flop of Q?9?9?, and Koloszar checked to Wheeler as he continued for 5,000. Koloszar raised to 13,500 and Wheeler jammed for about 29,000. Koloszar wasted little time making the call and both hands were tossed on their backs.

Jason Wheeler: A?A?
Daniel Koloszar: A?Q?

Wheeler was in great shape until the Q? fell on the turn, filling Koloszar to a full house. The J? river was no help for Wheeler as he stood up from the table.

Schneiders Fails to Quadruple Up

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Felix Schneiders
Felix Schneiders

Yi Lin raised to 2,400 from under the gun and received a call from Emmanuel Wouters in the next seat over. Moonho Seo also came along from the button, but Felix Schneiders had different ideas and went all in for 9,200 from the big blind.

All of his opponents made the call, seeing an opportunity arise for the PokerStars Ambassador to quadruple his stack.

On the subsequent 4?7?5? flop, the action checked to Seo, who put out a bet of 15,500. Lin and Wouters folded in quick succession, leaving a heads up showdown.

Felix Schneiders: A?K?
Moonho Seo: 9?7?

Seo had flopped the best hand with a pair of sevens, and improved to two pair on the 9? turn. The A? river could not save Schneiders' Big Slick and he left the tournament area after saying his goodbyes to his former table.

Odani Secures Chip Lead With Monster Draw

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Takumi Odani
Takumi Odani

Takumi Odani kicked off the action with a raise to 2,000 from under the gun. Luc Ramos then called from the next seat over, as did Paul Covaciu in the cutoff.

Rene Keller then went all in for 10,000 from the button and Odani called before Ramos got out of the way. Covaciu also came along and a flop of 10?8?6? was dealt.

Odani checked before calling a 9,500 bet from Covaciu. On the A? turn, Odani checked once more before being faced with an all-in wager of 38,300 from his opponent. He thought it over for a minute or so but ultimately decided he could not fold and put in the call, leading to a three-way showdown.

Rene Keller: 7?6?
Paul Covaciu: A?10?
Takumi Odani: J?9?

Covaciu was ahead with his two pair, but Odani had a plethora of outs with his straight and flush draws. Keller was still drawing live as well, but the Q? river made Odani his straight, resulting in the elimination of both of his opponents.

By winning this pot, the Japanese player crossed the 200,000-mark and is chip-leading the field on Day 1a of the Eureka Main Event.

Novotny Rivers Double Knockout

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Petr Novotny
Petr Novotny

After some preflop action, Niculina Grasu went all in for her final 8,000 chips from the big blind and found no less than three callers in Safwane Bahri under the gun, Petr Novotny on the button, and Luca Moschitta in the small blind.

Moschitta then created a side pot when he bet 4,500 on the 9?5?9? flop. Bahri quickly folded but Novotny stuck around with a call.

On the Q? turn, Moschitta checked to Novotny, who made a bet of 5,000 in response. Moschitta then jammed all in for 18,800 and a swift call followed from Novotny, after which all three players revealed their holdings.

Niculina Grasu: 5?5?
Luca Moschitta: A?A?
Petr Novotny: Q?J?

Grasu flopped a full house and was looking to quadruple up, while Moschitta was a big favorite for the side pot. The Q? river, however, saw Novotny hit one of his two outs to scoop the pot.

His higher full house awarded him with a big stack of almost six figures, while both Grasu and Moschitta left the tournament in a state of disbelief.

Vladimir Lipnitskii
Vladimir Lipnitskii

Vladimir Lipnitskii opened to 1,200 on the button and found one caller in Konstantinos Markakis from the big blind.

Markakis check-called a 2,000 bet from Lipnitskii on the 9?8?5? flop and a 2,500 bet from Lipnitskii on the Q? turn.

Both players checked down on the 3? river and Markakis turned over 9?4? for a pair of nines. Lipnitskii tabled J?9? for nines with a better kicker and dragged the pot.
