Small Ball by the Final Two

Level 35 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

There have been mainly just limped pots so far during the heads-up match between Mathieu Di Meglio and Vlada Stojanovic.

The latest small pot saw Di Meglio completing from the button and Stojanovic checking his option. Both players checked on the {10-Hearts}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop and the same action took place on the {7-Clubs} turn. Stojanovic then bet on the blank river to win the pot without showdown.

Niko Koop Eliminated in 3rd Place (108,570)

Level 35 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Niko Koop
Niko Koop

Niko Koop put in his last 3,500,000 from the button, which prompted Mathieu Di Meglio to ask for a count from the small blind. He decided against calling, however, Vlada Stojanovic was up to the challenge.

Niko Koop: {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Vlada Stojanovic: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Koop was dominated and found no help on the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop. The {8-Clubs} turn meant he had one foot out of the door and the {7-Clubs} river confirmed his third-place finish for a six-figure payday.

Stojanovic Calls with Ace-High

Level 34 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

In a heads-up pot between the blinds, Mathieu Di Meglio checked on the {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop and Vlada Stojanovic checked back.

Di Meglio then bet 300,000 on the {j-Hearts} turn and his opponent called. The {10-Diamonds} river completed the board and Di Meglio fired a bet of around 1,000,000. Stojanovic quickly called.

Di Meglio tabled a bluff with {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for six-high and Stojanovic showed {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for ace-high to win the pot.

Stojanovic Calls Correctly

Level 34 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

In a limped pot involving Vlada Stojanovic and Niko Koop, both players checked the {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop from the small blind and big blind respectively.

On the {q-Hearts} turn, Stojanovic check-called for 350,000, which brought in the {k-Diamonds} river. Stojanovic checked once more and Koop sized up to 850,000. After some thinking time, Stojanovic made the call.

Koop had the {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a pair of queens but was bested by the {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts} held by his opponent, which was good for a straight.

Koop and Di Meglio Trade Chips

Level 34 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Mathieu Di Meglio opened to 400,000 on the button and Niko Koop defended from the big blind.

Koop checked on the flop of {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Di Meglio continued for 300,000. Koop called. Koop checked again on the {q-Spades} turn and Di Meglio sized up to 575,000. Koop again called.

Koop checked a third time on the {k-Spades} river and Di Meglio checked back. Koop showed {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a turned pair of queens to win the pot as Di Meglio showed {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

Di Meglio won some of that back a few hands later when he got to showdown with {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} against Koop as was good.

Daan Mulders

Niko Koop was first to act and opened to 350,000. Action folded to Daan Mulders in the big blind and he moved all in for 2,100,000. After getting a count, Koop made the call.

"Wow, you really must want me out of here," said Mulders as the cards were revealed.

Daan Mulders: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Niko Koop: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop was one that Mulders enjoyed. "Another club," requested Mulders and the dealer complied with the {8-Clubs}, which took away some of Koop's pair outs. However, the {q-Hearts} river gave Koop a pair of queens for the winning hand.
