The second champion has been crowned in the 2020 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Online and Andorra-based Spanish PLO specialist Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau emerged victoriously in a field of 70 entries in EPT Online 02: $10,300 PLO [6-Max, PLO High Roller] to claim the largest slice of the $700,000 prize pool.

Lau had to overcome the Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas and staged an epic comeback in heads-up to claim the top prize of $188,937 while Bujtas was denied another PLO victory and had to settle for the runner-up prize of $141,233.

The Spaniard, who was born in Hong Kong and moved to Spain with his parents when he was four years old, entered heads-up with a narrow lead over Bujtas. The victory was miles away after the very first hand when they got it in after a king-high flop and Bujtas got there with his combo draw on the river. However, even a 19-1 lead could not get the deal done for the Hungarian as Lau doubled three times and ultimately prevailed in remarkable fashion.

Former EPT1 Grand Final champion Rob "batoelrob" Hollink was the first casualty of the seven-handed final table despite returning second in chips and Andreas "Skjervoy" Torbergsen suffered a similar fate after going from first in chips at the start to 6th place finisher. Also featured among the finalists were Dante "dantegoyaF" Goya, the UK's "d.apollo777" and Eelis "EEE27" P?rssinen.

The Action of the Final Day

Within the first half an hour, Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas went from third in chips to the dominating chip leader with three times as many chips as the nearest contender. The Hungarian seemed unstoppable and Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau then pulled into second place when his flopped top set held in a five-way limped pot to eliminate Rob "batoelrob" Hollink, who failed to get there with aces and the nut flush draw.

In the blink of an eye there were suddenly just four players remaining a mere five minutes later. Andreas "Skjervoy" Torbergsen ran into the aces of Eelis "EEE27" P?rssinen and Dante "dantegoyaF" Goya lost the battle of short stacks with kings against the aces of "d.apollo777".

The UK's "d.apollo777" started the day with the shortest stack of just 13 blinds but secured several double-ups and pay jumps. That all came to a crashing end in 4th place when they got it in with kings in a three-bet pot on a ten-high flop. Bujtas looked them up with middle pair and hit perfect-perfect for a full house to become the runaway chip leader.

Three-handed play was a tense affair and Eelis "EEE27" P?rssinen eventually became short to then find his master in Lau. It seemed to be destined for a very quick end after that: Despite being very deep in chips, Lau and Bujtas got it in the very first hand of heads-up and the Hungarian jumped into an overwhelming lead. But Lau was able to turn things around in epic fashion within 25 minutes to earn the title.

Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas Eliminated in 2nd Place ($141,233)

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Laszlo Bujtas
Laszlo Bujtas

Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas invested more than half of his stack in a preflop raising war to then fold to the aggression of Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau on a {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop.

Two hands later, the stack of 1,104,704 of went in preflop as he three-bet out of the big blind and called all-in when Lau four-bet.

Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}

Both players had double-suited aces and the {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop propelled Lau into the lead. Things got worse for Bujtas on the {2-Spades} turn as Lau held the superior spades draw and the Hungarian needed a blank four or one of the remaining three kings to double. Instead, the {2-Diamonds} river ended his run in 2nd place for $144,233.

Lau overcame a 19-1 chip deficit after the first hand of heads-up and earned the top prize of $188,937. A full recap of today's action is to follow.

Back and Forth Kicks Off

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Following a raise and call for 120,000 preflop, Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas called a bet of 160,000 by Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau on the {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop and raised the pot on the {j-Clubs} turn when Lau bet 280,000. That shut down the resistance of the Spaniard and Bujtas earned the pot.

Sheer aggression in a three-bet pot won it for Bujtas on a {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop right after and Lau then stopped the carnage when he dragged in a 1,040,000 pot by betting the {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Spades} river in order to avoid another shift in momentum for now.

The lead of the Spaniard grew bigger when he bet the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop for 80,000 and the {j-Diamonds} turn for 200,000 with Bujtas check-calling. They checked the {10-Diamonds} river and Bujtas showed {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts} which Lau had beat with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for the ace-high straight.

Lau Back Into the Lead With Another Double

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

In a three-bet pot to the {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop, the chips went flying once more and Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau was at risk once again.

Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau: {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Lau's flopped straight was ahead but Bujtas picked up some additional outs with a gutshot to a superior straight on the {9-Clubs} turn to go with his superior flush draw. However, the {10-Spades} river bricked and Lau doubled into a 2.5-1 lead. Bujtas cut some of that back with aggression throughout the next few hands.

Lau Doubles Through Bujtas

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas bumped it up to 120,000, Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau three-bet the pot and Bujtas then four-bet to 1,080,000. Lau's more than 1.5 million ended up in the middle and Bujtas made the call.

Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Kings held on a board of {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Lau doubled once more.

Bujtas Gets Back on Track

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau caught Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas bluffing who raised the pot pre and then only bet the {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} river for 180,000 into 240,000. Lau won the pot with {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} for two pair as Bujtas only had {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

In the very next hand, Bujtas struck back with a three-bet to 360,000 and was called by Lau, who check-called 200,000 on the {j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{a-Spades} turn. The {4-Hearts} river was checked and Bujtas won the pot with the {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Both then won bigger pots that essentially traded back and forth as Bujtas enlarged his lead once more.

Lau Back in Contention

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau was all-in after a flop of {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and the pot of more than 900,000 was up for grabs on route to a possible comeback.

Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

The {q-Clubs} turn and {8-Spades} river bricked and Lau doubled. He then earned a solid pot with {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a queen-high straight on the {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} board and cut down Bujtas' lead further by winning three medium-sized pots in a row.
