Roberts Changes His Mind, But Smith Won't Show
Three players saw the river on a board, and Brian Roberts bet 15,000 from the big blind. It was an overbet, as the pot contained just slightly over 12,000, and the player in the cutoff quickly folded. Dan Smith had something to think about on the button though, and the American high roller eventually said he was all in. It looked to be about 30,000 more, and Roberts thought for awhile before mucking.
"Don't show it," he warned Smith.
"Don't?" Smith slid his cards inward but kept a hold of them.
"OK, please show," Roberts said with a laugh.
"You can't have it both ways," Smith replied, keeping them face-down and collecting the pot.
Smith is coming off a win in the 5,000 Midnight Turbo event, where he collected 109,370 for topping a field of 82.
