Cody Gets it In

Yann Dion came in raising to 2,400 from middle position, and Jake Cody three-bet to 5,800 a couple seats over. Dion called the extra, and off they went to the flop.

It came {3-Hearts} {7-Spades} {J-Hearts}, and it checked to the raiser. Cody continued out with 5,800, but Dion presented him with a check-raise to 16,400 total. Cody only had 35,100 chips left behind by this point, and he needed several long minutes to think it over. During the course of his time in the tank, he double-checked his cards several times, thumbed through his blue chips to see how many he had left, and shot curious glances at the board, his opponent, and the ceiling. After what must have been five minutes, he picked up those last 35,100 chips in one hand and held them indecisively. Then he set them back down and thought for another couple minutes. Eventually, he resigned himself to his fate, and he plunked the chips across the line, knowing there was essentially no fold equity involved. He was working with {A-Spades} {K-Spades}, and he was actually in front as the cards laid with Dion showing up {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts}.

It was a coin flip for all intents and purposes, and the {2-Clubs} turn was safe for Cody. He couldn't fade the river, though, and the {10-Diamonds} dropped off the deck to pair Dion and send the Brit to the rail in silence.

With the knockout, Dion appears to have just ticked up to the 200,000-chip mark.
