Golczyk Leads Into Day 2 with 417 Remaining
Welcome to Day 2 of the 2011 PokerStars.com European Poker Tour London Poker Festival Main Event. After the completion of both starting days, the field grew to 691 players with 417 of them remaining.
Lukasz Golczyk is the man to catch, bagging up 211,600 in chips on Day 1a. Day 1b's chip leader Benny Spindler is sitting in second place with 160,800 in chips. Raj Vohra (156,600), Mustapha Kanit (152,200) and [Removed:40] (143,600) round out the top five.
First place is worth 750,000 with the top 104 places paying out. We're a ways aways from that and there's still plenty of firepower still in contention. Martins Adeniya, Sorel Mizzi, Justin Bonomo, Nick Binger, Sam Chartier and Jeff Sarwer all come into Day 2 with over 100,000 in chips while Team PokerStars Pro's largest stack is Matthias de Meulder with 103,400 in chips. Fellow Team Pro and self-proclaimed "Future EPT London Champion" Jason Mercier enters the day with 99,200 in chips.
Other Team Pros still in the field include Joe Hachem, Vanessa Rousso, Barry Greenstein, Ivan Demidov, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Vicky Coren, Ville Wahlbeck and Angel Guillen to name a bunch. Victor Ramdin is the shortest of the red spade-branded players with 10,300 in chips.
How long we'll play today has yet to be determined, but once we receive that information we'll let you know. We do know that the cards will be in the air promptly at 12:00 noon here in London, so be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for all of the coverage.
