Xuan Liu Eliminated in 3rd Place (360,000)

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante
Xuan Liu
Xuan Liu

Rupert Elder raised on the button to 250,000, Heinzelmann folded in the small blind and Xuan Liu moved all-in for 2,480,000 from the big blind.

Elder asked the dealer for a count and when he was told the amount he made the call. The screwed up face of Elder said it all when he saw the hand of Liu.

Elder{a-Clubs} {7-Hearts}
Liu{a-Hearts} {j-Hearts}

It looked so likely that Liu would double up until the dealer gave us this magnificent flop.

Flop: {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

Although Elder had taken the lead it gave Liu a ton of outs with her flush draw added to her two overcards.

Turn: {10-Spades}

River: {6-Spades}

Xuan Liu will not be the second successive woman to win EPT San Remo but she did fantastically well to finish in 3rd place for her best ever cash.

Heinzelmann Takes Most of Liu's Stack

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante
Max Heinzelmann
Max Heinzelmann

Max Heinzelmann opened to 240,000 from the button and Xuan Liu made the call in the small blind to see a flop of {3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, Liu check-called a bet of 265,000 from the super agressive German.

The {A-Clubs} on the turn was an interesting card and Liu now check-called a bet of 510,000 and the river was the {J-Spades}. Liu checked for a third and final time and Heinzelmann bet a huge 2,075,000 against the Canadian, after about a minute she made the call.

Heinzelmann turned over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for the flopped set and rivered full house, "That is good," sighed Liu. She has dropped to below 2 million in chips, Heinzelmann is over the 10 million mark.

Liu Remains Active Despite Newfound Short Stack Status

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

Xuan Liu, now the short stack, has been hovering around the 5 million mark, involving herself in several small pots.

She raised to 250,000 from the button and in the big blind Max Heinzelmann reraised to 620,000. Liu looked a little frustrated, but made the call anyway and they saw a {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Hearts} flop. It ended shortly thereafter, as Heinzelmann bet out 700,000 and Liu folded.

Undeterred, Liu raised again the next time the button moved to her. This time both Rupert Elder in the small blind and Heinzelmann in the big made the call, and all three saw a {2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop. It checked around to Liu and she stuck in a 385,000 bet. This time she got respect, and picked up the pot right there.

Elder v Liu - Flop Battle

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

Rupert Elder raised on the button when he made it 250,000 to play. Xuan Liu defended her big blind and the two of them moved on to the flop.

Flop: {10-Spades} {4-Spades} {3-Diamonds}

Liu bet 855,000 and Elder immediately raised it to 1,925,000. Liu remained composed and studied her opponent before eventually removing her bet and replacing it with a three-bet for 4,0250,000. Elder did not hesitate to move his monumental stack over the line and Liu folded her hand.

A vital pot and Elder now moves up to 17,870,000

Elder Recovery

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

Rupert Elder opened to 250,000 from the small blind and Max Heinzelma in the small blind made it 625,000 to go. Xuan Liu then flat-called this and Elder came along for the ride to see a flop of {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Heinzelmann fired out 910,000 and Liu folded but Elder made the call. The {5-Diamonds} turn and {J-Diamonds} river both went check-check and Heinzelmann turned over {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} but he was pipped on the end by Elder's {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Stacks Drifting Towards Even

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

Max Heinzelmann is doing some fine work evening the stacks here - he's up to 8 million now.

He lost a small pot to Xuan Liu, calling her button raise in the big blind and then check-folding to a continuation bet on the {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop. But next hand he won a larger one, raising to 310,000 from the small blind and getting a call from Liu in the big. Heinzelmann bet 225,000 on the {3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop and Liu check-called. She checked the {k-Spades} turn as well, but this time the 575,000 bet from Heinzelmann proved too much for her.

It's anyone's game at this point.

Stone Cold Bluff

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

Max Heinzelmann raised from the button and Xuan Liu called in the small blind. The flop was {3-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {k-Clubs} and Liu check-folded to the Heinzelmann bet.

The next time Heinzelmann was on the button he again raised to 250,000, Liu folded but Rupert Elder called in the big blind.

Flop: {a-Hearts} {9-Spades} {a-Clubs}

Elder checked, Heinzelmann bet 225,000 and Elder check-raised to 525,000. It was a curious move considering the board texture and Heinzelmann quickly called.

Turn: {4-Diamonds}

Elder kept the pressure on Heinzelmann with a bet of 700,000 and he made the quick call again.

River: {3-Spades}

Elder calmly declared he was all-in and Heinzelmann quickly called again.

"Good call," said Elder

Elder{q-Spades} {8-Spades}
Heinzelmann{a-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

Heinzelmann doubles up and will be a dangerous force now.
