Day 3 - Soulier Has Monster Chip Lead

Fabrice Soulier
Fabrice Soulier

Good morning and welcome back to the Spielbank Berlin where things are getting very serious indeed.

Last night we saw a double elimination on the bubble to leave us with one player, Karl Heinz Klose, claiming 120th place money, meaning that we are down to 119 as we head into the day.

The man to beat right now is dapper Frenchman Fabrice Soulier. A huge double up with a turned Broadway straight against online qualifier Jason Helder late yesterday propelled him to the chip lead, and he only increased it as the day edged towards a close - he's now at 1,079,400, with the next biggest stack (belonging to Alessandro Laubinger) a comparatively piddling 742,400.

Still, it's only Day 3 and it is really anyone's game yet. Among the other hopefuls in this remarkably stacked field are Peter Eastgate, Roberto Romanello, Thomas Bichon, Vladimir Geshkenbein and Team PokerStars Pros Fatima Moreira de Melo, Henrique Pinho, Sebastian Ruthenberg, George Danzer and Joep van den Bijgaart. This should be very interesting.

Play is due to start at noon, in around three quarters of an hour. Don't go anywhere.
