Giacomo Maisto Eliminated in 4th Place (100,000)

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Giacomo Maisto
Giacomo Maisto

Vladimir Geshkenbein raised to 210,000 under the gun and Giacomo Maisto called out of the big blind. They saw a flop.

Flop: {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Maisto checked to Geshkenbein, who bet 275,000. Back to Maisto, who spent a few moments fingering stacks of orange T25,000 chips, before announcing all in. Geshkenbein asked how much it was, but before the dealer had had a chance to assess it, Geshkenbein told him, "Doesn't matter. I call." They flipped the cards.

Geshkenbein: {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Maisto: well ahead with {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Turn: {2-Spades} - no change there.

River: wait for it... {4-Hearts}!

Maisto banged the table in frustration and stormed off for a moment, while Geshkenbein grinned widely. A second later Maisto had returned and they were shaking hands, Geshkenbein telling him, "Unlucky." The stacks were finally assessed - they were close - and it was established that Maisto was indeed covered.

The players are now taking a short break before we continue, three-handed.

Grinding to a Halt

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

It's really slowed down here at Snowfest, Koen De Visscher opened to 200,000 on the button and everyone else folded. The Belgian showed {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

Kevin Vandersmissen opened to 200,000 and suddenly Giacomo Maisto woke up and moved all-in from the button. Vladimir Geshkenbein folded but De Visscher tanked from the big blind and got a count which was 2.73 million. De Visscher eventually folded and Vandersmissen quickly folded behind him.

Vandersmissen made it 200,000 on the button and Geshkenbein called in the big blind to see a {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop which both players checked. Geshkenbein also checked the {j-Diamonds} turn and Vandersmissen put out a big pot-sized bet of 425,000 which the Russian quickly folded to. Vandersmissen showed {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

Geshkenbein Continues To Splash Around

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

Vladimir Geshkenbein's chip stack has fluctuated wildly all tournament, none more so than here on the final table. The loose-aggressive Russian has been the chip leader, the short stack and now he lies somewhere in between.

He was involved in a few pots before the break one where he raised to 175,000 and the folded when Giacomo Maisto moved all-in for 2,500,000. In another he saw Kevin Vandersmissen raise to 160,000 from the button and he himself moved all in. Vandersmissen folded.

One hand went all the way to the river too, Koen De Visscher opened to 160,000 and Geshkenbein made the call. Both players checked the {q-Spades}{k-Hearts}{k-Spades} flop and again when the {4-Clubs} was dealt on the turn. The {8-Spades} on the river prompted a very small 80,000 bet from Geshkenbein but De Visscher read this as strength and folded rather quickly.

In Serious Declein

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

Vladimir Geshkenbein's fortunes have not improved any - rather, he's now down to 1.9 million, the official short stack.

After a couple gos at raising preflop but being pushed off each time by a reraise from one Belgian or another, Geshkenbein finally got a call from Kevin Vandersmissen in the small blind, Geshkenbein under the gun. Vandersmissen checked the {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop and called 225,000 from Geshkenbein, before both players checked down the {8-Clubs} turn and {q-Diamonds} river. Vandersmissen turned over {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Geshkenbein's eyes widened before he mucked - he said something that sounded to us like, "I had a flush draw."

Three Hands, Little Action

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante
Kevin Vandersmissen
Kevin Vandersmissen

Vladimir Geshkenbein limped in the small blind and Koen De Visscher, who isn't playing as loose as the Russian or Kevin Vandersmissen but isn't as tight as Giacomo Maisto, checked his option.

Both checked the {q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop before Geshkenbein bet 80,000 on the turn, Visscher called and both checked the {J-Hearts} river, the Russian winning with {j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

A couple of hands later and Geshkenbein opened to 175,000 from UTG/CO and Maisto flat-called in the big blind but the board of {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} was checked down to the river where Maisto turned over {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} to win again.

Vandersmissen opened to 160,000 and Geshkenbein made it 420,000 from the small blind but snap-folded when the Belgian reraised all-in.

Gesh Who Clashed Again?

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

Kevin Vandersmissen has just won a pot of more than 1,500,000 from his arch rival Vladimir Geshkenbein.

The Russian raised to 175,000 preflop from the button and Vandersmissen made the call from the big blind. The dealer put out the {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Vandersmissen check-called a 225,000 continuation bet from Geshkenbein.

After burning a card the dealer put out the {q-Hearts} on the turn and again Vandersmissen check-called, this time a bet of 550,000. The river brought the {q-Clubs} into the fold and Vandermissen once again checked. Geshkenbein looked like his was trying to figure out how much to bet but then changed his mind at the last moment and tapped the table to check.

Vandersmissen:{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Geshkenbein: mucked

The battle continues with Geshkenbein on 3,100,000 and Vandersmissen on 5,850,000
