Lundmark Straightens Up On The River

The running battle between Kent Lundmark and Konstantin Puchkov continues, with Lundmark coming out on top on this occasion.

The Swede raised from the button to 275,000 and Puchkov called. Both players checked the {7-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop but when the {8-Hearts} arrived on the turn the betting started.

Puchkov, as he has done on numerous occasions today, made a 350,000 bet on the turn, a bet that Lundmark called. Then when the {9-Spades} peeled off on the river, Puchkov bet again, this time making it 400,000 to play. After a few moments thought, Lundmark made the call and turned over {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a straight, more than enough to trump the {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} of the Russian.

Lizano Doubles Through Lundmark

Jesus Cortes Lizano
Jesus Cortes Lizano

Kent Lundmark min-raised from the button and in the big blind Jesus Cortes Lizano reraised to around 600,000. Whether it was exactly 600,000 we're not sure, as no sooner than Lizano had reraised, Lundmark shoved, and Lizano snap-called all in.

Lizano: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Lundmark: {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

Board: {2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

The crowd went crazy as local boy and PokerStars sponsored player Lizano doubled up to 8.715 million - almost tying with Konstantin Puchkov for the chip lead now. Lundmark is suddenly the shortest stack at the table.

Puchkov Forces a Bluff Out of Lundmark

Kent Lundmark opened up the action from the Small Blind and you already knew that Konstantin Puchkov was going to call. The flop was {6-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {q-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {2-Hearts} and Lundmark check-called a 400,000 bet by the Russian. The river was the {a-Diamonds} and Lundmark saw it as the perfect opportunity to bluff and made the bet of 825,000.

"KJ?" Muttered Puchkov.

The Swede remained motionless and Puchkov called with two pair {a-} {10-} much to the surprise of everyone - Lundmark included who had {8-} {9-} for the bluff.

The Action Since The Break

Not much has happened since the players returned from their break, maybe they should have all had a couple of espresso's whilst they were away from the table.

Kent Lundmark and Konstantin Puchkov continue to be involved in a running battle, with Punchov seemingly happy to play out of position the majority of the time.

Lundmark opened from the button to 240,000 and Puchkov called. The flop came down {7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and the familiar pattern of both players checking continued. The turn was the {5-Clubs}, Puchkov checked and then folded to Lundmark's delayed continuation bet of 245,000
