Kagawa Cripples, Eliminates Huntley

Gordon Huntley raised to 40,000 to open the pot from middle position, and Masa Kagawa moved all in for 269,000 from the small blind. When it came back to Huntley, he spent some time considering the decision that was for most of his own stack as well. Finally, he glanced around the room and plunked a calling stack into the pot.

Showdown
Huntley: {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}
Kagawa: {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}

The {10-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {3-Spades} flop added four more outs for Huntley, as the kings were now live for his Broadway straight. The turn {7-Diamonds} was no help, though, and neither was the {4-Clubs} river, and Kagawa pounded the table with an open palm in celebration. When the stacks were counted down, Huntley was left with just about 70,000.

A few hands later, Kagawa opened to 40,000 and John O'Shea called in the small blind. In the big, Huntley called for more than half of his remaining chips to go three ways to the flop.

It came {4-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}, and O'Shea led out with a bet of 50,000. Huntley called all in for 33,000 total, and Kagawa matched the bet as well to create side action between he and O'Shea. Both live players check-checked the {K-Hearts} turn, and the {4-Clubs} river drew a bet of 100,000 from Kagawa. O'Shea folded, and it was time to see if Huntley could survive.

He turned up {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} for fours and threes, and that just wasn't going to get it done. Kagawa tabled {J-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and his jacks up earn the pot and the bounty of Gordon Huntley.
