It turns out that he'd just been moved to a new table when, with 49,000 left to his name, he picked up
and raised. Another gentleman shipped his 45,000 stack in with 
offsuit, Mattern snap-called, and there was a showdown.The door card was a jack. The other two flop cards were both sevens. Oops.
Down to just a few thousand chips, Mattern couldn't recover and busted out a few hands later.
