Mattern Matriculating Up the Board

Arnaud Mattern
Arnaud Mattern
Aleksey Tkachenko raised from middle position before the flop, and he found action only from Arnaud Mattern in the small blind.

The two men check-checked the flop of {7-Hearts} {6-Spades} {A-Diamonds}, and the {2-Clubs} hit fourth street. After another Mattern check, Tkachenko slid out a bet of 675, and Mattern called before the chips had even touched the felt. The {9-Spades} filled out the board, and the action went check-check again.

"Mmm-hmm?" asked Arnaud without opening his mouth. Tkachenko tabled {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} for the nut no pair, and Mattern showed his own {K-Clubs} {Q-Spades} to take half the pot.

Okay, it's not the most dramatic hand in the world, but it does provide a good excuse to tell you that Arnaud is sitting right on 50,000 chips as the first break approaches.
