While Kalle Niemi was busting out, over on the other table an absolute monster of a pot was forming.

Jan Skampa raised to 72,000 under the gun and Stefan Mattsson called from the button. All good. In the small blind, though, Anthony Roux reraised to 220,000. Skampa flatted. So did Mattsson. Interesting.

All three players checked the {J-Diamonds}

flop, and they moved to the {7-Spades}

turn. Roux checked again, but Skampa now bet a rather chunky 470,000. Curiously, Mattsson flat-called. Roux folded. Onwards.

The river was the {7-Diamonds}

and now Skampa bet out 900,000. Mattsson disappeared into the tank as approximately a million people appeared from nowhere to crane over the table.

Eventually he folded, and Skampa is now in contention for the lead on around 2.7 million.
