And so we have come to the final day -- and the final table -- of the 2009 PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Monte Carlo Grand Final. Five grueling days of poker have produced eight finalists from seven different countries. They are:

Seat 1: Peter Traply - Hungary (4,365,000)
Seat 2: Mikhail Tulchinskiy - Russia (3,220,000)
Seat 3: Eric Qu - France (2,880,000)
Seat 4: Pieter de Korver - Netherlands (2,440,000)
Seat 5: Alem Shah - Germany (1,515,000)
Seat 6: Daniel Zink - Germany (1,865,000)
Seat 7: Matthew Woodward - USA (4,560,000)
Seat 8: Dag Mikkelsen - Norway (7,315,000)

Mikkelsen starts with the chip lead after making a strong run at the end of Day 4 by knocking out Marc Naalden in 10th place and Chris Rossiter in 9th place. But really, it's anyone's game. Mikkelsen's chip lead is not nearly insurmountable.

There are 21 minutes left in Level 28, 40,000 / 80,000 / 5,0000, when we get underway. That was scheduled for noon (five minutes from now) but any old hand will tell you that television tables never, ever start even close to on time. Just stay tuned and we'll see what happens.
