Monroe Gets a Dub
Around 13,000 was in the middle from preflop action in a heads-up pot between an early-position player and Rich Monroe, who was in the cutoff. The flop came and both players checked.
The turn was and the player in early position bet 6,300. Monroe called. The river fell and the early-position player looked back at his holdings before announcing a check. Monroe then looked over across the table to his opponent, eyeing a stack that the player revealed to be 17,000.
"Seventeen thousand, huh?" said Monroe. "I don't have that much," he said, sliding his remaining chips forward.
"I call," said the early-position player reluctantly. "Do you have the nuts?" he asked, showing , and Monroe confirmed the news as he tabled for the best hanad.
"How much is it?" asked Monroe's opponent. The stack was totaled to be 9,700, which the player paid off. "Good hand, sir," he added.
