Nut Flush Gives Giardina a Stack This Time

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Michael Giardina
Michael Giardina

After running an ace-high flush into a straight flush, Michael Giardina found himself in a three-handed pot on his new table with 3,400 in the middle and a board reading {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. Steven Rule was first to act in early position and bet 1,600, with both Giardina in middle position and Kane Lai in the hijack finding calls

Three-way action continued to the turn {9-Hearts}, Rule and Giardina checked again. Lai bet 5,200 and Rule folded, with Giardina calling behind to take action heads up to the river {2-Hearts}. Giardina checked again and Lai bet 11,600.

"All in," said Giardina, announcing a check-shove after a few moments in the tank. Lai immediately called.

Michael Giardina: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Kane Lai: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Giardina had made his second nut flush in the first two hours of the day, and this time found himself besting Lai's second nuts to take his stack and send Lai to the rail.

Saltz Joins the Party

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Josh Saltz in the CPC $1,40 Main Event
Josh Saltz in the CPC $1,40 Main Event

Josh Saltz has just entered the Bally's Black Hawk Poker Parlour and confirmed with PokerNews he is firing on a discount, having gotten into last night's satellite at the last minute and won his seat that way.

Saltz finished in eighth place during the series-long CPC Points Leader Board, effectively finding himself one in-the-money finish shy of a top-five positioning that would have earned him a free seat into the event. However, such a finish did not stop him from finding his way into the tournament, where he hopes to display another strong showing after a recent seventh in the CPC $1,450 Main Event for $13,625.

Around 4,000 was in the middle on a board reading {5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} with four players holding cards. Steve Le Peau checked in the big blind and Dan Mingus bet 2,200 in middle position. Jay Jesse folded in the cutoff and then Vincent Griboski called on the button. Le Peau folded, taking action heads up to the river {6-Hearts} where Mingus bet. another 4,200 and Griboski found a call.

Mingus showed {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, hitting a flush on the river to take down the pot.

On an adjacent table, Michael Giardina got his stack in with the nut flush on an unpaired board against Todd Sprague, who woke up with a straight flush and eliminated Giardina.

Thomas Fuller was then balanced onto Table 6, with Rich Dixon also entering the tournament and taking his seat at the same table. Giardina then re-entered moments later and was seated at Table 8.

River Saves Wahdan from Losing More

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Josh Williamson
Josh Williamson

There was 3,700 in the middle from preflop action with five going to a flop of {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}, which checked through to {8-Spades}. Eddy Konarske checked in the small blind and Al Hart followed suit in the big blind, sending action onto the under-the-gun Salim Wahdan. Wahdan bet 2,600 and saw Steven Rule fold in middle position before Josh Williamson called on the button. Konarske and Hart both folded behind.

Action was then heads up to the river {2-Spades}, where Wahdan's fist connected with the felt. Williamsonput out a bet of 4,000.

"God damnit. I checked myself to death, didn't I?!" said Wahdan. He deliberated a bit more and eventually announced he would find a disciplined fold.

Williamson showed {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for the flopped full house and Wahdan exclaimed the river saved him and that he folded pocket tens.
