Carr Applies Pressure to Miller

Level 22 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Chad Miller
Chad Miller

Action folded around to Chad Miller who limped for 60,000 and John Carr raised to 165,000 from the seat next to him. The rest of the table folded and Miller slid in the call.

The two players saw a flop of 5?3?2? and Miller elected to lead for 115,000. Carr, undeterred, announced "raise" before counting out a bet of 340,000 and placing it over the line. Miller thought for a while before folding, showing A?3? for a pair and a gutshot. Carr obliged and flashed the A? before mucking his hand.

The Road to the Final Table: Bar Poker Open Championship Day 2

John Kelly
John Kelly

At 11 a.m local time, the Bar Poker Open Championship at the Golden Nugget Casino will see the final 53 players return to their seats for Day 2. The tournament attracted 1,053 entrants, many of whom had qualified either online or in their local pub league, and accumulated a prize pool of $315,900. Today, the remaining 53 players will be whittled down to the final table of nine, who will return Thursday to duke it out for the whopping $100,000 first-place prize, as well as the bragging rights and the title of Bar Poker Open Champion 2023.

Anthony Lundy leads the way with 1,655,000 in chips and is closely followed by Chad Miller (1,300,000) and Dawna Blyleven (1,130,000), the latter of whom secured a bag late last night. The top ten also include Marvin Coon (1,050,000) and John Carr (950,000), who burst the bubble on Day 1b.

The big story of yesterday was John Kelly who earned himself an additional $1,500 by being the only player to carry chips over from both Day 1a and Day 1b. Kelly had bagged 300,000 in Day 1a so entered the field yesterday and managed to more than double his Day 2 stack by ending yesterday's flight with 650,000 chips.
