Martins Gets Ball Rolling

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Portugal’s Antonio Martins started Day 1B of the Aussie Millions positively. Sitting in the cutoff and following an under the gun limp Martins raised to 300 with both the big blind and under the gun limper making the call.

The big blind checked the {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop before the under the gun limper fired out a bet of 500 which is called by both Martins and the big blind.

Both the big blind and under the gun player check the {q-Hearts} turn over to Martins, who decided to take control of the hand and led out for 725.

That was enough to get the big blind to bow out but not the under the gun player who opted to call taking the action heads-up to the {5-Hearts} river, which completed a possible back door heart flush.

Both players check and as the last aggressor, Martins showed first, his rivered two pairs with {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} good enough to take down his first pot of the day.
