Spadavecchia Doubles

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Robert Nguyen raised, Vic Spadavecchia three-bet and Nguyen called.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades} and after Nguyen checked, Spadavecchia pushed in. Nguyen snap-called with the {j-Clubs}{q-Spades} two pair and Spadavecchia was unlucky with the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

Things changed fast on the {a-Clubs} turn, however, as Spadavecchia made a set of aces and it held on the {2-Clubs} river.

Hoefer Does Some Work

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Robert Nguyen opened to 32,000 from the button and Paul Hoefer moved all in to enforce a fold.

Then, Hoefer limped from the small blind and Frank Williams raised to 48,000, the German called. On the {K-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop, Hoefer check-folded to a bet worth 33,000 by Williams.

One further hand later, Hoefer raised to 34,000 and Karib Yustinus defended his small blind. The board {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts} was checked through entirely and Hoefer's {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} won the pot.

The Shoving Begins

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

First Paul Hoefer shoved 220,000 over a Robert Nguyen open and Nguyen folded, showing an ace.

Then Najeem Ajez did the same, for about the same, over and Alex Grocott open.

Grocott folded as well and it appears they have reached that portion of the tournament where it's push or fold for the 20 big blind stacks.

Hansen's Stack Cut Down

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Frank Williams raised to 26,000 and Mogens Hansen in the small blind as well as Alex Grocott called in the blinds. On the flop {K-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, Hansen fired 75,000 and both his opponents folded.

The next hand, Robert Nguyen raised to 26,000 and Hansen three-bet to 75,000 with Nguyen coming along to the flop {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Nguyen check-raised all in and Hansen forfeited a hefty continuation bet of 100,000 to lose more than half his stack.

Piyush Gupta Eliminated in 9th place ($10,685)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Piyush Gupta
Piyush Gupta

The action folded around to Piyush Gupta in the small blind and he moved all in for 79,000 chips out of the small blind. Paul Hoefer asked the dealer for an exact count and then tossed in the chips.

Gupta: {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Hoefer: {A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}

The flop {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} changed not much for Gupta, as he still needed to pair one of his two hole cards in order to stay in the tournament. Once the {2-Spades} appeared on the turn, Gupta now needed a six to chop but blanked with the {A-Spades} river. Hoefer's full house took down the pot and Gupta headed to the payout desk in order to collect A$10,685 for his efforts.

Spadavecchia Doubles Up

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Karib Yustinus made it 26,000 and when it folded to Vic Spadavecchia, he shoved in for 96,000.

Yustinus asked how much. The dealer told him, and then he asked how much more. The dealer told him again, and he called with the {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

Spadavecchia didn't have much, but the {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} was enough, holding on a {5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts} board.
