Action Slowing

There's not much happening out there but we suspect with the rapid rate of eliminations, a number of people have stacked up early and are now able to take their time as a result.

How quickly are they going out, you ask? Well, we can confirm that 250 players started today and there are currently 160 players remaining as we approach the end of the fourth level.

The prize pool and payouts will be confirmed shortly.

Meet Tyron Krost, Australia's New Aussie Millions Champion!

Many people may not know the name Tyron Krost, but they soon will.

The 23-year-old PokerStars Qualifier from Sydney snared victory from Frederik Jensen in the early hours of this morning after a 13-hour battle on the final table that included 2007 WSOP Europe Main Event champion Annette Obrestad and Sorel Mizzi.

For the second year running, the Aussie Millions Main Event title stays on home soil and Lynn Gilmartin was there to chat to the champion:

Big Show Busto

Steve 'The Big Show' Topakas has made a significantly early exit in this tournament, eliminated at the hands of Denis Gervais.

Topakas was crippled down to just 800 in chips after running {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} into the {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} of an opponent who had rivered a set on a board that read {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Topakas moved his short stack into the middle preflop a short time later with {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}, but Gervais called him down with {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

The flop of {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades} put Gervais in the lead and he kept it when the turn and river ran out {2-Spades}, {2-Hearts}, sending 'The Big Show' to the rail.

Khalil Eliminated

The playboy of Australian poker, Ali 'The Peppermint Hippo' Khalil has just approached the PokerNews desk and recalled the details of his elimination.

Khalil got his very short stack into the middle in a last-ditch attempt to double up with {10-?}{8-?}, but ran into an opponent's {q-?}{10-?}.

The board improved neither hand and Khalil was busto.

Recent Eliminations

We told you it was going to be quick, and we weren't kidding!

Amongst those we have confirmed on the casualty list include Billy Jordanou, Andrew Demetriou, Leo Boxell, Ben Savage and 'Carwash' George Cotaidis.

Tournament director Christian Vaughan has advised the players that no more entries are being taken. We'll have the numbers crunched for us shortly.

PokerNews Australia Day Cricket Match

The PokerNews crew took some time out on the weekend before the Aussie Millions Main Event for a "friendly" game of cricket and BBQ at the Flagstaff Gardens in the heart of Melbourne.

It was an epic battle between the Aussies and the US invasion, however it turns out those sneaky Yanks brought in a "secret weapon" based purely on a technicality, to steal the match by one run.

In any case, a great time was had by all and hopefully it'll become an annual tradition - because the Aussies will be looking for revenge!

Chick Crushed

'TassieDevil': tamed
'TassieDevil': tamed
PokerNews blogger Heath 'TassieDevil' Chick has just been eliminated at the hands of Tam Truong.

We caught the action on a flop that read {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}; Truong checked to Chick who led out for 550. Truong then check-raised to 1,500 and Chick called before the dealer produced the {10-Spades} on the turn.

Truong then fired out a bet of 2,000. Chick moved all in over the top and Truong snap-called.

Truong: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Chick: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Chick was drawing dead and to add insult to injury, a repeat {10-Diamonds} appeared on the river to fill Truong up.

"I'm going to go and break some stuff now," Chick said to us at the media desk before leaving the room.

Truong is up to 14,000 in chips.
