The chip leader at the end of Day 1a is Daniel Guerras who managed a double knockout in the penultimate level of the day to soar into the lead. His straight flush draw bested the two pair of both opponents to move above 350,000, and he would extend his lead to 532,500 chips by the end of the day.

Other big stacks include Abraham Serrano (428,000), Nils Memmi (438,000) who are the only other players above 400,000 in chips.

Meanwhile, having made it through to Day 2, Antonio Dascenzo (270,500) will be looking for another deep run, having finished fourth in November 2022 when 888poker last visited the Spanish capital.

Day 1b of the 888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event gets underway at 17:00 local time with eleven more 45-minute levels scheduled. Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the action from the Casino Gran Via.
