The PokerNews Quiz: Which Is the Better Bet?

While the World Series of Poker Europe plays out in Rozvadov, Czech Republic with the PokerNews live reporting team on hand to provide start-to-finish coverage that other World Series, the baseball one, finished up this week. The Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers four games to three in a series featuring a number of close, exciting games.

Among the stories swirling around the World Series was one of a mysterious gambler who allegedly placed large winning bets on each of the first six games of the series, reinvesting all of his winnings each time. His bet on the Dodgers to win Game 6 was for $8 million (the story goes), and when L.A. won the man had reached $14 million worth of winnings.

The mystery man dubbed "Sir Let It Ride" by Sports Illustrated and other outlets apparently chose not to bet it all on Game 7, thereby keeping most of his winnings. While the story wasn't necessarily believed by everyone to be true (see this Washington Post article for a summary of all the speculation), it was still an entertaining one either way.

In the spirit of Sir Let It Ride, this week's PokerNews Quiz concerns hold'em odds and deciding which is the "better bet," with the chances being considered growing increasingly slimmer as you go. In each case you're given two circumstances in hold'em and are invited to select which has the better chance to occur sort of like choosing a winner between two teams.
