Juan Macerias Lapido is a Spanish poker player hailing from La Coruna in Spain. Maceiras is a former member of Team PokerStars. At the time of writing, Macerias had more than $2.2 million in live poker tournament winnings.
Most of Maceiras's live poker results, according to The Hendon Mob Database, stem from events held in his native Spain. It was obvious from early in Maceiras' career that he had a talent for high-stakes poker tournaments — he finished ninth in the 2007 PokerStars EPT Barcelona Main Event for €64,800 ($88,584).
Seventh months later, the Spaniard finished sixth in the EPT Warsaw Main Event for the equivalent of $148,196.
More impressive five-figure scores followed before Maceiras helped himself to a then career-best payout. He was the fifth-place finish in the €10,400 EPT Grand Final Main Event in Madrid in 2011 for €315,000 ($467,532). You may recall that it was the controversial Ivan Freitez who emerged victoriously that year.
Maceiras' results dried up between 2014-2021, with the Spaniard cashing in only three tournaments. However, he hit the tables with renewed vigor from 2022 onwards, albeit in tournaments commanding buy-ins at the lower end of the spectrum.
At the 2023 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Macieras cashed in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker event before putting together an epic run in the record-breaking $10,000 WSOP Main Event. He finished Day 7 with 108 million chips, the most of any of the remaining 15 players, and having secured at least $430,200 from the prize pool.
Unfortunately, Macerias' Main Event dreams came to an end with an 8th-place finish for which he earned $1,125,000.
