Jordan Griff hails from the Chicago area (Schaumburg, Illinois, to be exact), and he's going to be one of the fan favorites at the final table. Not only does he have the chip lead heading into the final table, but he only had $47,000 in prior live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob.

Griff started playing poker aged 21 during college, with his biggest tournament score before the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event came in a 2023 World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) event in Northern California, finishing ninth for $18,104. He only had one other five-figure cash, and just three small cashes in WSOP bracelet events.

But those tournament results are a thing of the past. Griff is guaranteed a minimum of $1 million at the final table, but his sights are set on claiming the $10 million first place prize, especially given his current position as the tournament's chip leader with just nine remaining players.

"I mean, the money's great, but this is a dream for me. I mean, everyone who watches poker growing up in the Moneymaker era or watching the TV programs, you want to be at the final table, and to do it this year with the largest field it's just it's a dream come true."

Jordan Griff's Main Event Story

Griff's journey to the WSOP Main Event final table was anything but smooth. He started off fairly strong on Day 1d, the fourth opening flight, when he bagged 98,600, up from his 60,000-chip starting stack.

What he did best throughout the tournament was to survive and advance while increasing his stack. By Day 4, he'd cracked the 1 million chip mark, although he only had about an average stack. On Day 5, he would increase his stack by 300% to 3,035,000, but again was sitting on an average stack.

Day 7 is where he'd struggle most, but still advanced. On that day, his stack dropped from 8,725,000 at the conclusion of Day 6 to 8,300,000, the smallest stack with 18 remaining players. Day 8, however, what a magical day it was for the Illinois native, To say he was on fire would be an understatement. He ran so hot that he'd gone from 18/18 to 1/9, and it's not even close helped by a miracle river on the very first hand.

"The very first hand of the day, I pick up queens. I'm excited about it. There was a big pay jump, too, so I'm a little nervous. I get in most of my stack pre-flop, assuming we're just committed. Flop wasn't great for me. There was an ace on there. I thought he might have an ace, but I was going with it no matter what.

"I put my chips in and he beat me to the pot. I saw the threes, and I was just, like, in shock. I was happy at that point no matter what. I was accepting of it. I wasn't even watching it. Then I heard the noise that something happened. I look back, I see the Queen!"

With 143,700,000 entering Tuesday's final table, he has a significant lead over everyone. Brian Kim is in second place with 94,600,000 chips, nearly 50,000,000 off the lead.
