Thomas Muehloecker Takes Home a $93K Score at PokerStars

Austrian superstar Thomas "WushuTM" Muehloecker is one of the most feared and respected poker tournament grinders of his generation. Muehloecker has more than $8.1 million in live tournament earnings and several more millions from his online poker exploits. The weekend just gone, Muehloecker added another $93,217 to his totals after he came out on top of the star-studded $5,200 Titans Event at PokerStars.

A compact yet ridiculously stacked field of 54 entrants fought it out for the right to grab the lion's share of the $300,000 prize pool. Only the top seven finishers received some of the pot, with Jans "Graftekkel" Arends and Bulgarian Georgi "milennial" Sandev reaching the nine-handed final table but still missing out on some prize money.

Sandev was the unfortunate soul who popped the money bubble, locking in at least $13,055 for the seven survivors. "Ebaaa11" collected that sum when they saw their tournament run end in a seventh-place finish.

Poland's "PAX176" got their hands on $18,166 for their sixth-place finish before Swedish online poker legend Niklas "Lena900" Astedt busted in fifth, a finish good for $25,139.

Fourth place and $34,885 went to Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle, who would later win the $14,601 top prize of the $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up High Roller. Heads-up was set when "zvienaz" of Lithuania bowed out in third for $48,409.

Muehloecker found himself heads-up against the 2016 Irish Open champion, Dan "NukeTheFish!" Wilson. Muehlocker got the job done and his hands on $93,217, leaving Wilson to console himself with a $67,175 runner-up prize.

"dimadub93" Takes Down the Latest Sunday Million PKO

Some 10,823 PokerStars players bought into the weekend's $109 Sunday Million, dozens of them doing so having won their seat via the value-packed Power Path promotion. All those entrants meant a guarantee-busting $1,082,300 prize pool, half of which was paid out in a traditional manner, with the remaining 50% dished out as progressive bounties.

Only "Serebity_p" of Romania reached the final table but did not take home a five-figure prize; they scooped $5,876 after falling in ninth.

Those who did turn their investment into more than $10,000 were "Quepacha18" of Argentina ($10,199), "fart0vbli" of Kazakhstan ($14,976), and the United Kingdom's "pppharmacy" ($14,846).

"GOT3As" of Honduras ($26,706), "Heidegger807" from Canada ($32,338), and Romanian player "tzini9" ($45,008) all came agonizingly close to becoming the Sunday Million's champion, too.

"dimadub93" and "vilost" progressed to the heads-up stage of the tournament, and guaranteed themselves more than $55,500 from the main prize pool, leaving a massive final bounty up for grabs. Eventually, "dimadub93" defeated their final opponent, and added $26,201 worth of bounties to their winnings, for a total haul worth $81,775. "vilost" won $61,592 for their second-place finish.

"Fan do Dragon" Wins As Sunday Party Again Hits Its Guarantee

The Sunday Party at PartyPoker, a $109 buy-in $100,000 guaranteed PKO tournament, hit its guarantee again this week after 1,088 players bought or won their way in. Eventually, only two of that bumper crowd remained: "Fan do Dragon" and "T-777."

Both heads-up players could not win less than $6,399 from the main prize pool, which was a solid result in its own right, but both players had been actively eliminating opponents on their way to heads-up, so the last bounty payments were substantial.

"T-777" was personally responsible for the early exits of 19 players, but they could not claim a 20th scalp that would have seen them become the Sunday Party champion. This meant "T-777" had to make do with a second-place finish, worth $9,459 in total, with $3,060 of that sum stemming from the bounty prize pool.

"Fan do Dragon"'s haul tipped the scales at $11,902, an impressive return for PartyPoker grinder.

Proudfoot Pushes Through and Binks The Grand

Jonathan Proudfoot came out on top in the latest edition of The Grand at PartyPoker. Fifty players created a $50,300 prize pool, and Proudfoot got his hands on $15,283 of that sum after besting a talented group at the final table.

Guillaume Nolet ($2,283), Aleks Dimitrov ($2,498), Gerasimos Deres ($2,763), and Vojtech Skalak ($3,116) all came up short. As did Josh Hopkins ($3,606), PartyPoker regular Jerry Odeen ($4,666), and third-place finisher Preben Stokkan ($6,471).

Proudfoot's final opponent was Sweden's Simon Mattsson, but even the Swede could not prevent Proudfoot from emerging victoriously. Mattsson claimed the $9,611 second-place prize, leaving Proudfoot to bag $15,283.
