The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) online bracelet events are running now through September 6th. The series is comprised of 85 WSOP gold bracelets on the digital felt across two different clients: WSOP.com and GG Poker, which includes Natural8.

Each week, well highlight those players who rise to the top through their performance, be it a dominating one in a single event, or an exhibition of consistency over several tournaments. Heres a look at the POTWs thus far:

Negreanu Continues WSOP.com Momentum

Back in July, GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu made headlines for getting his Twitch live stream banned and accepting a highly-publicized heads-up grudge match against Doug Polk. While those stories garner the spotlight, Kid Poker was putting up solid results in the WSOP.com portion of the schedule. In fact, he ended with 15 cashes, tied with Ian APokerJoker2 Steinman, and behind only Ben Yu and Ryan Laplante, who had 16 and 17 cashes respectively.

Negreanu made a trip down to Mexico where hes set up shop with his wife, Amanda Negreanu, and is continuing his journey for bracelet No. 7, albeit on GGPoker.

Nine Cashes in a Row

Negreanu picked up where he left off by earning a plethora of cashes, including nine in a row. It started with a 105th-place finish in Event #53: $800 Double Stack Pot-Limit Omaha, good for $1,795, and continued until Event #61: $300 Monster Stack NLH when he finished 64th for $1,458.

Negreanus biggest cash in that period was $24,832 for finishing 13th in Event #54: $10,000 Heads Up NLH Championship. Negreanu made it through three rounds before falling to Michael Zhang in the Round of 16.

Negreanu exited when the blinds were 4,000/8,000 when he min-raised and Michael Zhang called. Negreanu continued for 8,000 on the 7?J?2? flop and Zhang made it 28,000. Negreanu came back with 80,000 and they went to the 2? turn. Zhang checked, Negreanu shoved for 221K and Zhang called.

Zhang: J?4?
Negreanu: 7?6?

Negreanu was drawing thin and missed the A? river. While Negreanus run came to an end then and there, his three prior heads-up victories suggest he might be a little more prepared for his upcoming grudge match again Polk than some folks are giving him credit for.

Negreanus performance wouldve been even better had his streak not come to an end, and trust us when we say it didnt come easy. In fact, in his elimination hand, Negreanu was a nearly 96% favorite when the stacks got in on the flop.

It took a one outer on the river to send Negreanu out the door short of the money, and the bad beat was actually a part of our Natural8 Hand of the Week article, which you can read here. Not to be deterred, Negreanu got back on the horse and notched two more cashes to close out the week.
