Malta Poker Championships

As the moratorium on live poker events continues, the Malta Poker Championships are to become the latest festival to be played online after a joint announcement from Qufan Internet Technology Ltd, Malta Poker Festival and The Hendon Mob.

Originally scheduled for May, the poker series will now be held on Pokio after Qufan Internet Technology quickly established a framework to provide an alternative for live event organizers to still run their events on the social mobile Poker platform.

The Malta Poker Championships by Pokio will take place from the 22nd to 27th of May and feature a 30,000 GTD Main Event, a 10,000 GTD Hendon Mob event as well as a Ladies Queens of Pokio event, all using Pokio's state of the art mobile Poker app.

There will be a range of events with different guarantees and formats to please the taste of the loyal and passionate players that regularly attend the events brilliantly organized by Ivonne Montealegre and her team. Satellites will be made available throughout the month of April with more details to be announced shortly!

No Rake!

All tournaments will be rake-free as a gesture of support to all players affected by recent events, with no tournament fees charged by either the organizer nor Pokio. There are also plans for a tournament with the rake contributing towards a fund for live poker dealers currently struggling to make ends meet.

It's also been announced that all results will be tracked by The Hendon Mob, with The Hendon Mob also having their own tournament during the event.

Other features like VIP bounties, streaming schedules and competitions will be announced shortly.

Mobile Event "A Breath of Fresh Air" Say Organizers

CEO of Qufan Internet Technology Manuel Lopes says that it is devastating for the poker community when live events are cancelled.

"People love to go to these events; to play poker and socialize with their peers. Poker players and industry professionals form an extremely tight community and we support each other so when our long time partner and friend Ivonne Montealegre cancelled her upcoming event we were very eager to help in any way we could.

"We feel like this Mobile event will be a breath of fresh air during these difficult times and we cant wait to release all the details in the upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, Event Director Ivonne Montealegre says she hopes that the great poker community will still be able to enjoy all the games and friendly atmosphere from the comfort of their own homes.

"Our brick and mortar partners have been very cooperative on this regard and I cant wait for better times to come. Certainly, live poker will change forever after this and I am excited to try the Pokio platform as this will be an exciting new beginning.
