The CA$1,650 event had three starting flights and easily surpassed its guarantee of CA$500,000 with a prize pool north of CA$850,000. Some of the players cashing included WPT's own Tony Dunst, Javier Zarco, Shannon Shorr and Francois Billard.

Mike Dentale would also make a deep run but ultimately bubbled the official final table with a ninth-place finish.

Strong Start for Salter

Salter was in the middle of the pack going into the final day with 37 big blinds, but he was still only one double from the lead as top dog Pat Quinn had 70 big blinds, according to the live updates.

Salter got things started off right immediately when he busted Andrew Ostapchenko. The only American at the final table called a three-bet from Salter in position with K?J? and flopped top two only to see Salter turn over top set of kings that had him all but dead.

It took some luck, but Salter would score another elimination with six left. After limping in with J?10? under the gun and seeing a 7?6?3? flop four ways, Salter got it in against Gonzalez Hernan's flopped straight. Luckily for Salter, he hit his flush on the turn.

Allison and Salter Meet

After that, Alexander James Allison went on a run of two knockouts.

First, he busted former WPT runner-up Ryan Yu in a sizable flip, with nines holding against ace-queen.

After that, nines were good to Allison again when they held against Santiago Plante's pocket sevens.

Salter, though, continued to chip up, and when his ace-king held against the A?6? of Quinn blind against blind, he had almost a 4-to-1 lead heads up with Allison.

Just five hands would be played before all the chips were pushed to Salter. He got lucky again as he shoved against his short-stacked opponent with 10?6? and ran into a dominating A?10?. The flop arrived clean for Allison but a six on the turn relegated him to second place to give Salter the win.
