Maurice Hawkins now stands alone atop the World Series of Poker Circuits all-time ring count after capturing No. 13 and taking a one-ring lead over Valentin Vornicu. Hawkins didn't spend long tied with Vornicu as he won his 12th ring just two weeks ago.

Hawkins record-breaking win came at the WSOP Circuit stop at Horseshoe Tunica when he topped a 432-entry field to win Event #8: $400 NLH Monster Stack, good for $31,372. That brought his lifetime WSOP earnings up over $2.3 million over 89 Circuit cashes and 23 coming from the summers WSOP.

I made a conscious effort to play better, Hawkins told WSOP officials after the win. And to be more focused, and to really value the opportunities and blessings that I have. I have the ability to play poker for a living, so I've been focusing on being a better person, on and off the felt, and it's translating all over.

Eye on a Bracelet

Days before winning his latest ring, Hawkins took to social media to share some motivation for the upcoming summer grind.

It doesnt matter your circumstance, background or education level. You have the power, to get off your ass and start preparing for your dreams tomorrow, he tweeted. Mistakes will be made. BUT LEARN, ADAPT, BE BETTER AND DO YOUR BEST. Your future is in front of you. Work for it.

He followed it up with: My goal for this 2019 WSOP is to have My Home Paid off. My whip shining new. (Got to have a payment on it, because I Likes to Ball, LOL) 18 Karats around my neck, Rolex on my wrist and have no Debt of any kind. These are my Visions before the Bracelet.

Hawkins came close to a bracelet two years ago when he finished sixth out of 6,716 entries in Event #47: $1,500 Monster Stack for $213,591. While he doesnt have WSOP gold around his list, he now has enough rings for all ten fingers and three toes.
