WSOP.com Online Championships

Taking place alongside the 2016 World Series of Poker (WSOP), both WSOP.com NJ and WSOP.com NV are hosting the WSOP.com Online Championships for players in New Jersey and Nevada. That means you can get your WSOP fix without being out in Las Vegas during the summer chasing bracelets.

Both festivals started a couple days ago. The New Jersey version of the series features 93 action-packed events over the course of 31 days from June 10 to July 10 with $250,000 in combined guaranteed prize pools. There are events on the schedule for all levels with buy-ins ranging from $5 to $500 and qualifiers for each of the tournaments.

Already scoring big in the Garden State's version of the series was Jeremy "Jermz" Danger, who took down the $20,000 GTD Online Championships Event #7 [Reentry] on Sunday to collect $7,000.

The Nevada version of the series runs over the same time period, but is almost three times as big. The online poker festival in the Silver State features the same 93 tournaments, but with $700,000 in guaranteed prize pools.

Usually online tournaments are bigger in New Jersey, however, since players do not need to be residents of the states to play in the series but just be located in them, the Nevada version dwarfs the one across the coast with thousands of players coming into Las Vegas for the WSOP and other live poker festivals taking place at the same time.

So far, "Luckyme23" was the biggest winner in the Nevada series taking down the $500 buy-in $50,000 GTD Online Championships Event #7 [Reentry] on Sunday for a big haul of $21,183. Poker pro Mark "Markdube" Dube from Massachusetts, who has over $1.6 million in live tournament earnings, also scored big in this tournament with a second-place finish worth $12,256.

Some of the biggest events are yet to come in the online poker series including a handful of $30,000 guaranteed events and the $500 buy-in $65,000 GTD Online Championships Event #88 [High Roller, Reentry] on July 9.

WSOP.com Online Champions Ring

While this is the time of the year poker players are thinking about winning a WSOP gold bracelet, players that participate in the WSOP.com Online Championships in either state can walk away with different hardware to showoff.

WSOP.com is hosting a leaderboard in Nevada and another in New Jersey where the best performing player in either series will be awarded a WSOP.com Online Champions ring. The winner in Nevada will also be honored with a special live ceremony at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino during the WSOP.
