Sunday Briefing: Jeff Gross Takes Third in PokerStars Sunday 500

Online poker's richest weekly tournament, the PokerStars Sunday Million, ended in a four-way chip this week, and each of the four players involved added more than $103,000 to their bankrolls.

Israel's "jerbi9999" fell in fourth place and collected $103,558.31, Germany's "MG10tze" bust in third place for $104,171.55, and his fellow countryman "konigkunde" took second for $103,564.06. The eventual champion was Australia's Nelson "FeCoNiCuZn" Maccini, who banked $166,377.34 for the victory.

Another player taking full advantage of the big Sunday prize pools was the Brazilian star "GM_Valter," who walked away with the $61,013.75 first-place prize of the Sunday 500, a result that took his lifetime online tournament winnings closer to the $4 million mark, according to PocketFives.com.

Also in that Sunday 500, Jeff "kidwhowon" Gross took third for $32,917.50, all while streaming on Twitch and attracting a couple thousand viewers to his channel.

  • "TheGreatPike" �� winner of the Sunday 2nd Chance for $34,395.00
  • "TanTanSWE" �� winner of the Sunday 6-Max for $21,168.00
  • "333ball" �� winner of the Sunday Supersonic for $43,421.35

Inaugural partypoker Super High Roller Smashes Guarantee

partypoker has made a number of changes to its tournament offerings of late, with one major change being the creation of a $2,600 Super High Roller event. This new tournament is scheduled to run every Sunday and was a big hit this week with the $100,000 guarantee being smashed by some $242,500 after 137 entries created a $342,500 prize pool.

"WinYourFears99" was the last player standing and collected $78,775, with "MrWhippy124" being the runner-up for $54,800.

The player known as "Cri.du.Chat" was crowned the $150,000 Guaranteed Main Event champion, an accolade coming with a $24,984.45 prize this week, while "OurodeTolo" won the $150,000 High Roller for a sizeable score of $40,328.75.

"yolosnap" took down the $50,000 Guaranteed Weigh-In, turning $109 into $14,190.63.

Full Tilt Sunday Major Chopped

The Full Tilt Sunday Major saw 197 players exchange $250 for the chance of glory, but it was "abduladarula" and "McNallyville" who grabbed the most of that by chopping the remaining prize pool when they were heads-up. The former banked $8,548.22, with the latter claiming $8,205.65.

Canada��s "RedPantRed" walked away with $5,993.45, including almost $2,600 of bounty payments, after winning the Sunday Brawl.

$150,000 Whale Gets Harpooned

This week saw the return of the $150,000 Whale at 888poker, and the bi-weekly tournament beat its guarantee by $29,670. Two British players finished first and second in "duchasp4rati" and "hammy261", securing paydays of $34,766.14 and $26,052.15, respectively.

It was Finland's "CoconuTreee" who finished on top of the $120,000 Mega Deep, his reward a princely $26,974.50 while "wallymatera," "Boogleman," and "Aponakov" chopping the $100,000 Sunday Challenge to win between $14,500.50 and $17,404.23.

With the Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) at PokerStars and the $7.8 million guaranteed Powerfest coming up at partypoker soon, there are plenty of opportunities for online poker tournament specialists to win big.
