NJ Online Poker Briefing

While tournament entrants and prize pools were down during the first weekend in December at regulated online poker rooms in New Jersey, many poker players were able to haul in big paydays.

The partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $50,000 Guarantee exceeded its guarantee with 292 entrants generating a $58,400 prize pool. The tournament would not have met its guarantee if not for the relatively new reentry feature due to 217 individual players entering the tournament.

The tournament ended in a heads-up deal with "azart1" claiming the top prize of $9,400 and Alex "El-Chapo" Jim officially finishing in second place for $9,072. Jim, who has amassed over $120,000 in online tournament cashes on regulated NJ poker sites as tracked by PocketFives.com, also appeared on the final table in a major tournament on the network the day before when he claimed $319 for his ninth place finish in the Daily $10K [Reentry].

Meanwhile, over in the WSOP.com/888poker NJ Sunday $30,000 Guarantee, "Setzer" banked $8,250 after claiming victory after beating Asher "AnthonyMason" Conniff in heads-up play. Conniff secured $5,391 for his runner-up performance.

This tournament, however, for the first time in recent weeks was unable to hit its posted guarantee with only 149 runners. Players that cashed in this tournament were able to take advantage of the $2,435 overlay, including third-place finisher AJ "Chips_Jammed" Ten Hoeve who took home $5,373.
