The New Jersey Online Poker Briefing:

It was another big weekend for online poker players in New Jersey with the the third edition of the Garden State Super Series (GSSS) hitting the heart of its 43-event schedule. At least $800,000 is guaranteed to be rewarded during this online poker festival from Oct. 11-25 on partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com.

The biggest event over the weekend was the GSSS #20 $100,000 GTD NLH, which generated a $107,400 prize pool with 537-players ponying up the $215 buy-in. The tournament ended in a four-way deal with "Miklan300" officially finishing on top to bank $16,707. Others to score big in the deal were "JimPanella" grabbing second place for $11,598, Peter "pst34" Tczap finishing in third place for $11,465, and "pokermaster69" claiming fourth place for $9,723.

Over in the GSSS #21 $50,000 GTD NLH High Roller, it was "HenryIam" outlasting a field of 99 players who bought in for $530 to win an even $15,000. The runner-up in this tournament was "mrnissan50", who claimed $8,400 for his efforts.

Some of the biggest events in the GSSS III are yet to come with next Sunday featuring the $215 buy-in GSSS #39 NLH Main Event with a huge $150,000 guarantee, along with the $1,000 buy-in GSSS #40 NLH High Roller with a generous $75,000 guarantee.

Taking place on WSOP.com NJ and 888poker NJ, two well-known NJ poker players finished in the top two spots in the Sunday $30,000 Guarantee. Brian "Deusexmachin" Willis won this tournament for the top prize of $8,691, while Michael "LeftSid3" Haberman Jr padded his bankroll with $5,070 with his second-place finish.

In other news this week, the potential of legalized sports-betting in the Garden State appears to be back on the table with ABC News reporting that the ruling from August of this year that grounded the law to allow sports wagering has now been vacated. This means that the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia will hear the case to potentially permit sports betting within the borders of New Jersey.

In response to the news, New Jersey State Senator and Governor candidate Ray Lesniak, a longtime supporter of sports betting in the state who sponsored the proposed bill, enthusiastically tweeted YES! 3rd circuit vacates ruling v my sports betting bill, adding to expect sports betting in Atlantic City and at the Monmouth Racetrack by Super Bowl.
