New Jersey's "Jonuzi" was this week's biggest winner in the Garden State, banking a cool $10,000 after outlasting a field of 263 players in the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $50,000 Guarantee. Second place in this tournament belonged to "Shelnewm8", who cashed for $6,585.
In the WSOP.com/888poker NJ Sunday $30,000 Guarantee, it was "smaulerg", also known as "Mergulas" on PocketFives.com, who grabbed the top prize of $8,492 for finishing atop the 174-player field. "Mergulas" is currently ranked third in New Jersey in the PocketFives Rankings, where he has previously held the number one spot for weeks on end. Amazingly, this is the third time he has won the Weekly Sunday this year, previously winning on March 8 for $10,442 and on May 17 for $10,800.
Jesse "NoXcape" Elliot, who is no stranger to big scores, earned a nice prize of $4,953 for finishing second in that tournament. Elliot has won the tournament on two separate occasions, first on December 7, 2014 for $6,875 and again on April 12, 2015 for $10,600. He also took second place in the tournament on May 3, 2015 for $6,300.
Meanwhile, The Big Sunday on 888poker NJ once again just missed hitting its guarantee with 48 players ponying up the $200 buy-in. In that event, New Jersey's Mark "ChipBleeder" Bowin won $3,200 after beating Ross "acesfullrjr" Resnick in heads-up play.
A special shoutout goes to Ted "roystalin" Ely for appearing on three final tables in major online events over the weekend. To start things off, Ely shipped the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com Daily $10K on Saturday for $2,190 and took ninth place in the WSOP NJ / 888poker NJ $10,000 GTD Nightly [R&A] for $182 where he plays under the "olmuggins" handle. On Sunday, Ely followed this up by taking third place in the 888poker NJ Big Sunday for $1,250.
