Don't Miss this Weekend's MSPT Grand Falls Casino $150K Guarantee Main Event 0001

This weekend, Season 6 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) continues with a $150,000 guaranteed $1,100 buy-in Main Event at Grand Falls Casino & Resort in Larchwood, Iowa, which is just across the border from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The stop actually kicked off last weekend with a series of qualifiers and side events, but the capstone event doesn't take place until this weekend (Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16). Last year, MSPT Lead Pro Blake Bohn, won the MSPT Grand Falls for $54,607 and his first MSPT title.

Interestingly, Bohn, who finished 23rd in the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event, topped a field of 410 entrants to win the MSPT Meskwaki in Tama, Iowa for $101,229. The win vaulted Bohn to the top of the Season 6 Player of the Year leaderboard and made him just the fourth player to win multiple MSPT titles.

"It's been a great year for the MSPT," MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski boasts. "Not only is the tour experiencing record numbers, our Team Pros are making waves in the poker world. Few players are as hot as Bohn right now, and another pro of ours, Matt Kirby, is fresh off a nice five-figure score right in his own backyard."

In regards to Kirby, who hails from Bemidji, Minnesota, Mileski was referring to the recently completed Midwest Poker Classic at Running Aces in Columbus, Minnesota. That $1,100 Main Event, which wasn't a part of the MSPT, attracted 119 entrants and created a prize pool of $121,430. Among those to cash were Midwest regulars Rob Wazwaz (11th - $2,125), Erick Wright (9th - $2,732), Matt Alexander (8th - $3,946), Dan Hendricks (7th - $5,161), Chris "Fox" Wallace (5th - $8,197), Jeremy Dresch (4th - $10,322), and Mike Mernin (2nd - $23,072). Kirby took home $40,071 for the win.
