Day 2 of the 2015 European Poker Tour 5,300 Main Event is done and dusted. After just about 1,000 players returned for action, the field was steadily cut down to 343. Finishing atop the survivors was a familiar face, as Nick Petrangelo bagged up 570,000.

Petrangelo was slowly building throughout the day, but in the final level of the night he was hanging around 225,000 or so. A few hands helped him increase his stack, but the banger came when he busted Tonnie Krijn in one of the final hands of the night to shoot all the way up the leaderboard. Petrangelo has been having himself quite a year, first winning over $400,000 at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, cashing twice for six-figure scores at EPT Malta, and then winning his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet during the summer. He has plenty more big results on top of that, having already earned over $1.4 million this year.

Third to Petrangelo was Brazilian Andre Akkari. He bagged up a stack at 543,000. Others who did very well were Shyam Srinivasan (433,000), John Juanda (371,000), Dario Sammartino (335,400), Patrik Antonius (265,100), and Jens Kyllonen (214,000)

On the other end of the spectrum, bunches and bunches of players hit the rail. Some of the notable eliminations were Russell Thomas, Ruben Visser, Ami Barer, Nicholas Rampone, Luca Moschitta, Sergio Aido, Vladimir Troyanovskiy, and [Removed:17]. Several members of Team PokerStars also hit the rail, including Eugene Katchalov, Jan Heitmann, Leo Fernandez, Liliya Novikova, Grzegorz Mikielewicz, and Naoya Kihara.

Day 3 will commence at 12 p.m. on Thursday, and that's when the prize pool should be made known. As of right now, the PokerStars registration team is working on finalizing details of all of the buy-ins before releasing the official numbers.

Until then, we'll leave you with an interview with Antonius from today.
