Cash Will No Longer Play at MGM Poker Rooms
Starting April 1, 2015, cash will no longer play at poker tables of MGM Resorts properties. Instead, only chips will be allowed.
The news came Friday via Chris Grove of Online Poker Report, and it is said to affect Las Vegas poker rooms at MGM Grand, ARIA Resort & Casino, Bellagio, The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, and Monte Carlo. Outside of Las Vegas, Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS, and MGM Grand Detroit will also undergo the change.
According to the report from Grove, no explanation was given by MGM as to why the properties will make the change, but he did suggest that other rooms will likely follow the movement in the future.
PokerNews reached out to Caesars to see if its properties would take this adaptation into consideration, specifically seeking knowledge if the company would follow this rule for upcoming cash games during the busy World Series of Poker. We were informed that, as of right now, cash does currently play at Caesars properties, but chips from other casinos do not, and the procedures are currently under review for 2015.
