Dan Colman & Phil Hellmuth

Theres no denying that Dan Colman is a controversial figure. His refusal to promote poker and blatant disregard for the media outlets have been praised by some but criticized by many.

Colman seemed to stem the hate by continuing to win poker tournaments he's won four major titles in 2014 and racked up $22,389,481 in winnings but hes once again poked the bear in the form of 13-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.

Hellmuth was recently a guest on Rounders scribe Brian Koppelmans The Moment podcast, which in turn inspired a thread on Two Plus Two. Colman, who posts on the forum under mrgr33n13, decided to offer his opinion of the Poker Brat with some particularly harsh words.

"Its embarrassing that we have to share our profession with whores like this guy. After I win one drop, he immediately comes on stage to shake my hand in front of a camera and congratulate me. As if he's the gatekeeper to the poker world and welcoming me inside.

"It is truly pathetic that a 40 year old would behave the way he does at the table, not to mention how spineless he is, just willing to take any sponsorship regardless of the company's integrity. Hey, anything for a payday! Really makes me sad to think there's a chance some people may look up to this charlatan. People of his attitude and character are a cancer to this world."

The post reached the attention of Hellmuth, who sent out the following tweet:

This isnt the first time Colman has offered his opinion. He polarized the poker community after winning World Series of Poker $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop for over $15 million and subsequently refusing to do a winners interview. He then posted his reasoning on Two Plus Two making controversial comments such as I really dont owe anyone an explanation and I dont owe poker a single thing while highlighting what he believes are the negative effects of the game.

Two months prior, Colman made a splash on the poker scene by winning the European Poker Tour Grand Final Super High Roller for 1,539,300, which he has since followed up with a slew of impressive results including a win in the 2014 Seminole Hard Poker Poker Open $10 Million Guarantee for $1,446,710, winning the WPT Alpha8 London for $957,396; and finishing runner-up in the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller for $1,118,479.

It was at that last event that Colman and his good friend Olivier Busquet, the man who won the tournament, inspired PokerStars to ban the display of political messages after the duo sported political messages on t-shirts during the final table.

Hellmuth has his fair share of both fans and haters, and it's clear what camp Colman is in.
