Phil Ivey Announces Temporary Closure of Ivey Poker
Ten-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Phil Ivey recently announced that Ivey Poker will be temporarily suspending its play-for-free poker app on Facebook.
Ivey Poker's free poker offering launched last year and its training site followed in 2014. Phil Ivey has frequently been seen wearing Ivey Poker patches and gear at live events to promote the brand.
"Since we launched our game here at Ivey Poker weve learned quite a few thingsfirst and foremost that a dedicated and loyal community is essential," Ivey commented on Twitter. "So to our loyal players, we felt we needed to communicate to you about some of the changes youll be seeing over the coming months. We plan on suspending the current game this Saturday, Oct. 25. Though that may sound ominous C its actually just the first step in our evolution as we prepare to launch an even bigger and better gaming experience for you all in 2015. We do appreciate all you have done for us here at Ivey Poker; it has been a joy and a learning experience for all of usand one that we hope will continue as we grow and evolve! Stay tuned for more C the best is yet to come!"
It appears that these changes only apply to the free game as the Ivey League training site continues to release new video content, including $10 NL Leak Finder Part 3 by Victor "TheStudent" Vermeulen on Oct. 28, Effects of Fatigue on Play Quality Part 1 by Chris "apotheosis" Kruk on Oct. 28, and 10 NL Leak Finder Part 2 by Drew "mythrilfox" Layton on Oct. 26.
While we are uncertain if the poker training site will be suspended as part of this announcement, there was some criticism on social media. Former Ivey Poker-sponsored player Christian Harder even chimed in.
Ivey Poker couldn't even stay open? Why? Its not like they were paying their pros.
