Theres no better time to take an exotic vacation than from September 1-11, which is when the World Poker Tour will be at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino in Cyprus. The partypoker WPT Merit Classic North Cyprus, a festival that will culminate with a $1 million guarantee $4,400 buy-in Main Event, is not only a great opportunity to play poker, but also to visit one of the most beautiful destinations in the world.

"North Cyprus is one of the most beautiful places in the world to host a poker tournament. The Merit Crystal Cove resort is truly spectacular, says PokerNews Editor-in-Chief Donnie Peters. Combine the location and venue with a premier WPT event that boasts a $1 million guaranteed prize pool and youve got a recipe for success. This is definitely an event all poker players do not want to miss."

PokerNews, which will be live reporting the Main Event from September 5-10, has come up with a list of three reasons why you should consider taking a September vacation to play the partypoker WPT Merit Classic North Cyprus.

Reason #1: Great Poker Action

While the WPT Main Event is the premiere tournament being offered, it is just one event on the schedule. Other tournaments being offered during the festival are a $1,500 WPT Warm Up featuring a $300,000 guarantee; $1,100 WPT Turbo Charged Deep Stack 6-Max featuring a $50,000 guarantee; and a $10,000 High Roller featuring a $350,000 guarantee.

In addition, there will be plenty of cash games offered at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino, so there really is something for everyone. To view the full WPT Cyprus schedule, click here.

Reason #2: You Can Explore the Remnants of an Ancient Shipwreck

Officially known as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus since 1974, the northeastern portion of the island offers a little slice of Turkish culture untouched by tourism and outside European influences. In addition to great food and scenic views, Northern Cyprus offers plenty of attractions including the renowned Star Ship.

The ship, which sank 2,300 years ago during Greeces Classical Age, was discovered in 1967, and now the 47-foot hull and its contents are on display at the Shipwreck Museum in Kyrenia Castle.

"We incorporated the visit here whist at the castle. It looks like a new museum. A real insight on a smaller scale of how the boats were constructed and life for the crew. Very informative with some original artifacts," said one reviewer on Trip Advisor, where the attraction has garnered four-and-a-half stars out of five.

Reason #3: Get Your Turtle On

While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is making a splash at the box office, turtles of a different kind can be found at Alagadi Turtle Beach. Endangered green and loggerhead turtles use the beaches to lay their eggs, and as fate would have it those eggs tend to hatch in September. That means if youre lucky, you can see some turtle hatchlings make their way back to the sea.

Heres a useful review from Trip Advisor, where the beach ranks four out of five stars:

The beach was unspoilt apart from the markers that showed where the turtles had laid their eggs. It was quiet and safe for swimmers. the water was like stepping into a bath it was so warm. Flip flops are definitely needed at the sand is extremely hot to stand on and the breeze can make the heat of the sun deceptive. High sunblock required at the height of summer.
