This weekend, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will host its latest $1,100 Main Event at the Grand Falls Casino in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which features a $150,000 guarantee. The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand to bring you all the action from that tournament from Friday, Aug. 15 through Sunday, Aug. 17.

The Main Event will be held over three days beginning Friday evening with Day 1a at 4 p.m. Saturday's Day 1b will also start at 4 p.m., and both days will play 14 levels.

For those who will be traveling to Grand Falls Casino, which is located in Larchwood, Iowa just six miles south of Sioux Falls, weve taken the liberty of compiling a list of five things you can do when youre not busy playing poker.

No. 5: See County Rock Band Harley & the V-Twins

Grand Falls Casino offers free national acts to guests 21 and older at The Show Lounge, and while the MSPT is in town Harley & the V-Twins will be the featured act. Based out of Fort Collins, Colorado, the country rock band plays everything from Waylon Jennings to Jason Aldean, and from Tom Petty to AC/DC.

The idea behind this band is to adapt to any audience, to leave any crowd satisfied, impressed, and exhausted, claims the bands Facebook page. The band will play the Show Lounge on Friday and Saturday from 8:30 p.m.-1 a.m., and Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Admission is free, so just show up.

No. 4: Enjoy Three Great Dining Options at Grand Falls Casino

Grand Falls Casino offers succulent steak or fresh seafood at Ruthies Steak & Seafood, which is perfect for players looking for an upscale, sit-down meal. For those seeking a bit more variety, such as Italian, Asian, or comfort food, then Roberts Buffet is the perfect option. Finally, for the poker player seeking either a quick bite to eat or something to take back to the table, then The Big Drop Caf is for them.

On Friday, Aug. 15, the Catfish Bay Water Ski Park in nearby Sioux will be hosting the Greatest Show On H2O, a family-fun event in which performers exhibit comedy, acting and more all choreographed to amazing stunts on the water. The show starts at 7 p.m. and adult tickets run just $12, kids 6-12 $9, and kids five and under are free. Hopefully youll be playing Day 1a of the MSPT at that time, but if you come with family, Catfish Bay is the perfectly place to send them so you can grind in peace.

The overall show was very entertaining, said one reviewer on Trip Advisor. It is amazing to see the level of training it takes and the commitment by volunteers to put on this show. The clowns added spice to the show for the kids. I was impressed with the fact that a snowmobile can run on water!

No. 2: Great Plains Zoo

You may be surprised to learn Sioux Falls has a zoo. The Great Plains Zoo, which is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., is extremely affordable ($8.50 for adults, $5.50 for children) and features such animals as tigers, penguins, and primates, just to name a few. The zoo isnt large by any means, but it has a lot to offer for its size.

We went to this zoo to kill a few hours in the afternoon and were surprised with it! It's honestly the perfect size and took us about an hour to briskly walk through, explained a review on Trip Advisor, where the zoo garners four out of five stars.

No. 1: Get Your Game On

If you prefer to stay in, Grand Falls Casino has plenty of gaming options to keep you occupied. In addition to the MSPT, the property has an eight-table poker room spreading all sorts of cash games; 900 of the newest and most popular slot maches; and a slew of table games including blackjack, Mississippi stud, pai gow, craps, roulette, and ultimate Texas holdem.

As the Grand Falls Casino website puts it, The sounds and lights envelop you. Large flat screens entertain you. Music fills the air. Plush carpet is beneath your feet. In other words, this is not your typical Midwest casino. Far from it. Inspired by the lavish casinos of Las Vegas, the gaming area at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort? sets a new standard of excitement, entertainment and fun.
